FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You do not need to research waxing, polishing, coating and PPF before contacting us. Tell AutoMate about your car's current condition, the main issue you want to improve and the result you are looking for. Photos are also helpful if convenient. We will recommend the next step based on your actual needs.
The page shows a reference or starting price. Vehicle model, body size, existing condition, service scope and required work can all affect the actual charge. If the service scope or price needs to change, we will confirm it with you before carrying out the work.
It depends on the service, vehicle, condition and treatment scope. Routine care such as washing can usually be completed more quickly, while paint correction, coating and PPF require more time. The booking page provides a reference duration, and we will confirm the estimated completion time after checking the vehicle at the shop.
If the service includes interior cleaning, we recommend removing valuables and personal items first. If the car has stubborn stains, odours, pet hair, previous paint repair, or existing coating or PPF, tell us when booking. Photos can also be provided in advance for unusual conditions.
It depends on the actual condition. Scratch depth, material, how long contamination has been present and existing wear can all affect the final result. We will inspect the vehicle and explain the level of improvement that can reasonably be expected rather than promising complete removal before seeing the car.
Waxing and machine polishing are treated as one paint-care service. Depending on the paint condition and care needs, suitable cleaning, compounding, polishing and waxing steps are used to improve gloss, swirl marks, fine scratches, light oxidation, water spots, wash marks and other surface imperfections, while also providing basic short-term protection and water repellency. The level of correction depends on the paint condition and is not simply the addition of a protective layer. If a scratch has reached the primer or metal, or the paint damage is deeper, it may not be possible to remove it completely, so the vehicle needs to be inspected first and the achievable improvement assessed. Protection will also gradually reduce with washing, weather and daily use. A coating forms a longer-lasting protective layer on the paint surface. Its main benefits include improved gloss, water repellency and resistance to contamination, making routine cleaning easier and helping reduce how long dirt remains bonded to the paint. A coating is not a scratch-protection film and cannot completely prevent stone chips, deep scratches or parking impacts. The paint should be in a suitable condition before coating; if there are obvious swirl marks, oxidation or water spots, cleaning, decontamination or paint preparation may be needed first. PPF (Paint Protection Film) is a transparent protective film applied directly to the paint. It is mainly used to resist stone chips, road grit, light scratches and some road debris during everyday driving. PPF is often suitable for drivers who frequently use highways or drive long distances, or who particularly want to protect the front end, door edges, mirrors and other vulnerable areas. PPF provides physical protection and is not intended to repair existing deep scratches. The paint should also be inspected before film installation and prepared if necessary. In simple terms: • If you want to improve gloss, swirl marks, fine scratches, oxidation or water spots while adding basic short-term protection, consider waxing and machine polishing. • If you want better water repellency, self-cleaning behaviour and easier routine care, consider coating. • If you want to reduce paint damage from stone chips and light everyday scratches, consider PPF. • If the paint already has obvious defects, or you want both appearance improvement and protection, the condition should usually be assessed first before deciding whether to carry out waxing and machine polishing, followed by coating or PPF. Waxing and machine polishing, coating and PPF serve different purposes and can also be combined around the vehicle condition and care goals. For example, if the paint has swirl marks or oxidation, waxing and machine polishing can be carried out first, followed by a coating for routine protection. If the main concern is stone chips during highway driving, PPF is more suitable than coating alone. If you are not sure which service suits you, tell AutoMate about the car's current condition, the main issue you want to improve, how you normally use the car and the result you expect. We will understand the condition first and suggest the right care direction, so you do not need to decide the service category yourself in advance.
Yes. Even a new car can have fine marks, stains, surface residue or previous paint repair from transport and delivery. Inspecting the paint before machine polishing, coating or PPF helps ensure the work is carried out on a suitable paint surface.
The car can be washed immediately after PPF installation. For coating, the usual waiting period is around 1–2 weeks, depending on the product used. When the service is completed, we will provide the relevant aftercare guidance, including when the car can be washed and suitable washing methods, to avoid affecting the coating or PPF performance.
If you need to reschedule or cancel, contact AutoMate as early as possible. Alternative dates and times depend on current availability. Any charges related to cancelling a confirmed booking will be handled according to the terms shown when the booking was made.
